Travelling Irrigators
Travelling irrigators are generally used for the irrigation of pastures, farmlands and sportsfields that are relatively flat to facilitate their crawling type of movement.
It is a generic term used to describe a range of irrigation machines that move by winching themselves across the area to be irrigated, thereby reducing labour requirements and ensuring an even distribution of irrigation water.
They generally make use of water cannons affixed to the chassis of the machine, and whilst they save on labour and can be set up by one worker, wind can play a role in disrupting water distribution in areas prone to wind.
